...Fruits Basket, that is.

::WARNING: LONG, FANGIRLY RANT FOLLOWS::

Fruits Basket was my favourite shoujo anime until Ouran came along, and a lot of the characters (and the character dynamics) are so similar I had to draw this.

Characters:
Tamaki = Ayame
Haruhi = Yuki
Kyouya = Hatori
Hunny = Momiji (I swear, they look like twins)
Mori = Haru and his White Coat of +1 Awesome
Hikaru = Start-of-series Kyou
Kaoru = End-of-series Kyou
Renge = Kagura
Nekozawa - Saki-chan
Kasanoda = Uo-chan

It's funny how it worked out so that the oldest Host Club members are playing the youngest characters. I was going to add Shirou as Hiro, too, but the pic got awfully large and complicated and I don't really like him enough to bother.

And my cracktastic explanation for why Haruhi is not dressed as Tohru, despite (technically) being the heroine:

After listening to several of the Host Club customers wax poetic over their favourite manga for several hours, Tamaki had jumped to his feet in a burst of enthusiasm and announced that they absolutely, positively /had/ to cosplay the series, out of duty to their customers.
Of course, this led to Tamaki chasing Haruhi around the Third Music Room trying to get her to wear Tohru's outfit, with many shouts of: "We must have a heroine, Haruhi! Daddy demands it!".
The twins gave identical Cheshire grins and declared that they didn't mind, since it gave them an excuse to spend a lot of close time with Haruhi.
Tamaki decided that actually, it would be better if Haruhi wore a costume which let him "reinforce our familial bond - while incidentally keeping you from spending too much time under the corrupting influence of those degenerate twins, Haruhi. Daddy's only looking out for your own good."


I think Haruhi fits as Yuki better than Tohru, personally. She's much more level-headed. ^^
And yes, I'm aware that a version of this has already been done by the lovely and infinitely more talented , but I started drawing this before I knew about it, and I figure it's different enough to not count as ripping her off.

Also, if you can tell what the Japanese actually says, you get a cookie.
